The Story so far...
At Rotten&Co. we are hoping to improve interest and knowledge of economic/financial crime including corruption, tax evasion, and money laundering. Which are very much behind the scenes activities bar a few headlines now and again - not to overlook the massive efforts of various supranational organisations, journalists, charities, civil society/media groups and governments. These are some of the most impactful crimes in relation to social development and equality. There will, unfortunately, always be criminals but they shouldn't be in government or public/private institutions made to serve the people.

Through our offbeat, satirical and duplicitously conflicted messages we would like to bring the ideas from academia and the anti-financial crime sector to the everyday conversation, because we've been there and know that they're interesting, important and relevant

Corruption has huge scope with many realities, it harms society, education, health and economic development. It undermines the rule of law and hinders democratic process. Corruption might not have a single definition but we will try to provide guidance on the nuance and move the discussion forward. There's a lot of it there, that's for sure.
Think of banks. They were made to serve the public, to provide a service but they became tools of wealth creation for a select few who continually abuse the system and harm society whilst getting filthy rich. In governments around the world, power is abused by the few who hold it for their private gain. This is not the way things are supposed to be, the world doesn't work if it isn't working for everyone, saying that, we know those at top think it's working just fine.

According to the Human Rights Foundation over 4 billion people live under authoritarian rule. That's quite a lot of people. That's quite a lot of injustice, it's not just, and it's just not right.
The idea isn't to bum you out, it's to inform and provoke. Many people and organisations are already active, learning and trying to make a difference. Others are looking for information, ways to help and express themselves.

Rotten&Co. would like to help, by sharing the the many faces of corruption; in government, financial markets, and corporations. Whilst not hating the idea of money, because money is just a means to an end, and that end can be many things, good and bad. The wrongs then, are met and compounded on the way to the end, by often rotten representatives of humankind. It's heavy but nevertheless we continue, trying to keep it light...
